REAL ID in Florida Requirements for 2025
Starting May 7, 2025, Florida residents need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card. This is required to enter federal buildings and board commercial flights. Florida has been issuing these IDs since January 1, 2010. A REAL ID-compliant credential has a star in the upper right corner.
Visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) website to learn more about obtaining a REAL ID.
What Happens If You Don’t Have a REAL ID?
You can still drive and use your non-REAL ID in Florida as long as it is still valid. However, without a REAL ID or alternative form of identification, you cannot board flights or enter federal buildings.
