Attorney Ian Wise brings over 17 years of extensive legal and criminal justice experience to his role as an Associate Attorney at Gans Law. A proud alumnus of Barry Law School, Ian has honed his expertise in criminal law, DUI, and injunctions, demonstrating a deep passion for advocating for his clients in these areas.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ian served as a police officer for thirteen years where he gained invaluable experience in the criminal justice system. Attorney Wise now uses that insider experience to help his clients navigate their criminal cases. As a police officer, Ian focused on DUIs and even became certified as a drug recognition expert (DRE), an achievement obtained by less than one percent of officers nationwide. Ian also became a traffic homicide investigator (THI), which now helps him defend complex serious criminal traffic offenses. As if that weren’t enough, Ian also honed his communication skills as a hostage negotiator—a talent he currently uses to advocate for his clients with both prosecutors and judges.

Ian’s commitment to the legal profession is matched by his intellectual contributions to the field. Showcasing his dedication to advancing legal knowledge and practice, some of his greatest achievements are the publication of his scholarly articles: One on the use of oral fluid for marijuana DUI published by the University of Georgia (UGA), and the other by his alma mater, Barry University, on the inconsistent rulings by Florida courts on the topic of law enforcement jurisdiction.

Outside of his professional life, Ian is a devoted family man who cherishes spending quality time with his wife and two children. When he’s not on the ice playing hockey, Ian is an avid cook, delighting in creating meals from scratch, and he enjoys exploring new cultures through international travel.
